SIMPLE WAYS TO HONOR VETERANS DAY

There are lots of ways to honor the significance and importance of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. One of the best ways to give tribute to those who served, our fallen heroes as well as the surviving ones, is to remember.

Here are ways to do that:

  1. VETERANS HOSPITAL

Plan a visit at a Veterans Hospital or a local VA office. Organize a simple day with the elderly or injured vets. A simple hour just talking to them will bring so much joy. What more when you arrange an outreach?

  1. TEACH THE KIDS ABOUT THE HOLIDAY

Arrange for a handful of middle schoolers to join the outreach. This event will teach these kids about the significance of this day. Have them buddy up with a vet or assign a group of 3 kids to one vet as an ice breaker. This serves as the getting to know you part of the program.

  1. STORY TELLING

Once everyone is comfortable and had gotten to know each other, sit them all down and get a couple of vets to share stories about their experiences during the time they served the country.

  1. THANK YOU MESSAGE

Prepare a thank you message for all these heroes and have it delivered by one of the kids. Or have each of them prepare a simple speech about what they took away from this experience and what they have learned from our veterans.

  1. FEAST

A great way to end the day is to share a delicious feast. Bring a few dishes to the place as a way of saying thank you for their service and for sharing this day with all of you.

Happy Veterans Day!
