‘Tis the season for Office Holiday shindigs and everybody is usually looking forward to this fun night. You’re thinking now is the time to strip off your professional mask and get your party animal on. Think again. Here is a list of some Corporate Christmas Party etiquette everyone should abide to if you want people to keep respecting you.
- DO LOOK SMART
Unless there is a theme you have to follow then you need to come to the event according to the party theme. If not, then dress appropriately. This Christmas bash is not an excuse for you to step away completely from the office dress code. We’re not saying to come in your business attire. It is a party so dress nice. Semi formal is your best bet. Make sure that it isn’t too low cut or the fabric isn’t too sheer.
- DO KEEP IT CLASSY
Food will be overflowing but that doesn’t mean you have to pig out. You are not at home and your superiors are in the same social gathering as you are. You can relax and have fun at the party just keep it classy.
- DON’T BINGE DRINK
Unwinding with a glass of wine or a bottle of beer in your hand is great. However, always remember to limit your drinks. Too much gin has a lot of consequences. Either you might find yourself flirting with a co-worker, passed out the floor or maybe starting a fight. Nobody wins when you start a drink ‘til you drop challenge.
- DON’T BE AN OPPORTUNIST
Now is not the time to suck up to the boss in hopes of climbing the corporate ladder. This is not how you want to impress your superiors. Besides, getting a promotion after egging your boss into drinking more shots of vodka will probably be forgotten in the morning.
Bottom line is, have fun but not too much fun.
